Whitworth College

Julie Riddle, public information specialist, Whitworth College, hosted an MarCom intern in 2003:

Our office had a long and varied assignment list waiting for Ivy Plewman when she arrived in June; she dove into her duties with confidence and eagerness.

The projects Ivy completed included researching and documenting the components necessary to create a customized, web-based fundraising appeal; researching notable academic achievements and writing spotlight articles for the college's web site; writing press releases; updating the eight-page campus profile for the Whitworth web site; and providing invaluable assistance on a half-day professional photo shoot.

Ivy exceeded our office’s expectations. She was dependable, self motivated, and possessed strong writing, research and public-relations skills. She sought ways to assist with projects that went beyond her assigned duties, and she tackled each project with a positive attitude, creativity, and common sense.

The MarCom internship program was a terrific opportunity for Whitworth to benefit from the skills of an enthusiastic and talented public-relations student. Ivy accomplished many jobs that our staff did not have time to do this summer; and she made meaningful and long-lasting contributions to the college.
