Ryan Moede

2003 MarCom intern at Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS)

The "match" between my public relations learning goals and the actual experience on the job was very similar. My public relations knowledge was fairly basic when I began the position, and I approached the job essentially ready to absorb information and learn as much as possible. Looking back, coming into the position with that attitude was helpful because I was placed in a lot of different situations where I was willing and able to observe, ask questions and learn.

My tasks were fairly diverse at INHS. I was handed projects ranging from promotional work for golf tournaments to writing press releases. I did a lot of article writing for both the print and e-newsletters, and designed a new layout for another newsletter. The job also included taking photos, working with the media to arrange interviews and stories, advertisement and logo design as well as planning for and working at special events.

I was incredibly pleased with my experience at INHS. I have never been so privileged to work with such a talented and professional staff, and I am very confident that this summer has helped prepared me to enter the job market after graduation.

The MarCom internship program was valuable to me because it was the venue through which I came to INHS. Were it not for MarCom, I doubt I would have had the opportunity to work with this company and gain the experiences that I have had.
