Caitlin Clapp, Whitworth ’03, was an MarCom intern at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Spokane in 2002
Maggie Crabtree offered me such a wide range of activities that I think I took part in everything she does in her office. I also really appreciated how she tried to utilize my writing skills, as well as offering me jobs in venues I had not experienced before, such as event planning.
The ‘match’ between intern and host was perfect! I love Shriners Hospital and all the wonderful people who work there. Someday I hope to work for a place that ties together a terrific work environment, philanthropy, ethics, compassion for humanity and a commitment to excellence. I now realize that hospital public relations is a career option for me.
I now know what aspects of PR I like best. Class work cannot show you the real world like an internship can. Thank you, MarCom, for an amazing match and incredible opportunity.
